If you can't think of just ONE, post a "top five".
My choice:

Raiders Of The Lost Ark

"The Queen is testing poisons." CLEOPATRA, 1935

I could rattle off a list, but they would be very obvious choices dominated by the likes of John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith. Guaranteed, someone else will mention them before this is up.

So I'll just put in a few quick honorable mentions for scores I like that never seem to make anyone's list. One is Laurie Johnson's funky soundtrack for And Soon The Darkness. This was an early 70s suspense thriller starring Pamela Franklin. I find I usually rent this movie more for the soundtrack rather than the film itself. (Johnson, who was a he, by the way, will always be best remembered for his theme song for The Avengers.)

Another score I really like is David Arnold's theme for Independence Day. Granted, you have to wait for the closing credits to hear it (opening credits seem to be a dying fad these days) but for me it's well worth the wait.

"Building the Barn" from Witness. We're (I'm) thinking of putting this as tract three in my wedding. Might be a good entrance theme, as well.

"The Ecstasy of Gold" from (I think) The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

I love the orchestral theme from Highlander by the late Michael Kamen, to go-to guy for heroic trumpets. (He also did the score for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which is the best thing about that movie.)

STAR TREK 2 Main titles have a great 'nautical' feel, and the scene where Spock has Savvik take the Enterprise out of space dock.
THE ROCKETEER. Fine sound track.
ditto KELLY'S HEROS.
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Oh, yeah.
SUPERMAN. Music to kick villian a$$ by.

Goldfinger great and appropriate to the movie

Animal Crackers and Hurray for Captain Spalding! Forever!

Exodus standard movie but great song

The Thomas Crown Affair and Windmills of my mind

Midnight Cowboy is built around Fred Neils great Everybody's Talking. Fred Neil actually wrote the song before the movie but the movie made it famous and is forever tied to it as it perfectly reflects the character and the movie itself.

Arthur Between the Moon and New York City. I have to adit that I love that song.

I have the album, it's called "The Ecstasy Of THE Gold". I love that scene where Tuco is running through the tombstones with the music building and rushing.

If you mean song as in "words and music" well, I'm surprised no one has mentioned THE GREEN SLIME.

That song is awesome.

If you just mean opening credits music, I'll just add NORTH BY NORTHWEST and HALLOWEEN to the mix tape.

Well, simply for the nostalgic value and because I still can do all the dance steps:

Saturday Night Fever

Also:

Animal House
Dirty Dancing (RIP Patrick)
Gone With the Wind (I love the majestic Tara's Theme)

She was bred in old Kentucky, but she's just a crumb up here.

I put another vote in for "Buring Bridges" by the Mike Curb Congregation.
