The sad thing is, I don't think Cracked isn't fooling around this time. But even if it is just a put-on, it's still hilarious.

The Spider-man stuff in particular had me LOL.

For what it's worth, I've actually read those early scripts for BTTF and Star Wars, and this article is describing *those* accurately.

That was a very interesting read. And I guess many films we end up watching in theatres start as extremely silly, incomplete pieces of junk. I have no clue on how many rewrites is the industry standards, but I've heard of Hollywood movies having as much as 25 rewrites before all parts settling on a shooting script.

Some years ago I read a fascinating book called MONSTER: LIVING OFF THE BIG SCREEN that looks at how a screenplay (or original concept) eventually gets warped into what ends up on the screen:

The Last Action Hero went the other direction. It bagan as a clever paridy of the buddy cop action hero genre and then got over whelmed by Hollywood rewrites. Arnold got involved and then it got bigger and bigger and more and more unintelligible as the Hollywood suites insisted that this and that had to be added in order to appeal to this or that demographic. The result was a mess adn a box office disaster.

Thanks Bobby-G, that link was very interesting. I already knew most of the rewrites are done to satisfy the ego of the attached stars and directors, but it still is very iluminating as to how the whole process can ruin a decent script. What puzzles me is that some of the movies that end up being produced are good despite all this.
