| Was one of the police officers played by the actor who played El Fuego in Half Past Dead? The imdb isn't being helpful, and if it's not him, I need to rename the character. |

| C'mon, we all KNOW the reason the mayor was cast was because of his resemblance to Bush. I'm surprised the director didn't stick a cowboy hat on him. |

That's wasn't the half of it. I'll be going into that in my piece. Some people seem to think I go out of my way to find "conservative" material to rant about, but sadly the problem is often avoiding it, not searching for it. In this case, I found the anti-Bush stuff tiresome in the extreme.
PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court? HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

Anti-Bush? The mayor turned out to be one of the good guys.

Yes, after the whole scene mocking the war in Iraq, as well as the tired jape about how supposedly stupid Bush is.
I will admit, though, that the fact that the Bush analog wasn't a bad guy was easily the best (and maybe the only) twist in the plot.

I must have missed the mocking of the Iraq war part because other than the usual heavy handed anti-pollution stuff I didn't find any real political subtext to the film.

It was during the meeting when Lawless forced herself into the Mayor's conference. I'll go into it in my piece.

Great, I'm a part of Jabootu history! Now to read the article to see how much I embarrassed myself.
If anybody is curious about my review, I decided to write about it as I wrote it. So I ended rewinding every few seconds, and several times per scene. It took me about 2-3 hours just to get through the first segment of the movie. (I also started it on Tuesday since the Skins got killed on Sunday and I was a bit depressed about that.) I never got a chance to watch the movie a second time, but I figured I got everything, plus I have absolutely no eye for continuity errors.
Oh, I just saw your email, Ken. Thanks. I don't mind that you took out a couple mistakes. I'll read the article now and see how it turned out. |

Killer Otakus. That'll make a fun movie. (No offense intended.)(What is the plural of otaku, anyway?

Japanese doesn't have an official plural, so I guess it would be "otaku." If you really need to emphasize plurality, you probably could say "otakutachi" without confusing anyone, though.
Subject, of course, to revision by someone who actually speaks Japanese on a regular basis.
