Anyone watch this....interesting movie over the weekend?
At times it had some interesting moments. The brief comment by George about faith was interesting. The film struggled to go beyond standard Hollywood stereotypes but regrettably just couldn't quite get there.
It definitely looked like they spliced in footage from another film for the military scenes and some of the alien scenes. And, would just cut and throw you into another scene which was disorienting.
Overall it was a disappointment (it is the SciFi Channel you know) but it had some nuggets.
The ROPe gives you three options, convert, submit, or die. There is a fourth, resist. |

Actually, this wasn't even produced for the Sci-Fi Channel. It was produced by a rapidly rising indie company called The Asylum and released to DVD the day before the Cruise/Spielberg version. Ever notice that Sci-Fi Channel premiere movies that weren't actually produced specifically for the Sci-Fi Channel tend to be of better quality no matter how slight it may be?

I actually thought it had some better ideas behind it than the Spielberg/Cruise version. The execution just left a lot to be desired. Plus, it at least avoided the death ray that vaporizes everything except clothes.
I usually don't watch SciFi channel movies, but I figured this one would be good to compare to the S/C and Pal versions.

And agine, the problim ,as with the Cruise flick....not enough Alien Rampageing!
And six legged war machines? Am i too much of a pureist to find that annoying?
Not too bad, but yeah....still something lacking.
