| Malcom in the Middle had a few funny years at the beginning, but went downhill quick after the kids all started hitting puberty. |

Every show about families slides when the kids start maturing. The Cosby Show, Diff'rent Strokes, Malcolm in the Center, etc.
Diff'rent Strokes was exceptionally painful, because Gary Coleman was sooooo cute until he started wearing facial hair, and Danny Cooksey was just plain irritating. Dixie Carter was fun to see, though. She introduced me to the concept of MILF.
The Simpsons (which I never have liked anyway) is an exception, because animated kids don't have to grow up. |

FYI: THAT GIRL actually ended before she got married (in the last season, she was engaged to Donald).
Don't ask me why I know this. I just do.
Biggest mistake(s) for me are all of the Brady updates, from their 70's variety show to the TV Drama they did in the late 80's.
Oh, and GALACTICA 1980, which also had Robbie Rist, so it could count as an extended Brady mistake. GAL80 was perhaps the apotheosis of Hollywood's lack of respect for SF fandom (something that has only somewhat diminished in recent years: see the hash that the STAR TREK franchise became, as well as the cavalier treatment of FARSCAPE by SFC).

Well, I think the A-Team lost the plot when they went from being vigilante soldiers of fortunes to being a sort of Mission Impossible working for the government in the form of the Man from Uncle.
Don't know if this counts as a mistake but I was always incredibly irritated by Hanna-Barbara's desperate attempts to squeeze the last remaining drops out of their franchises, (e.g Scooby and Scrabby Doo, Young Scooby Doo, Young Flintstones, The Flintstones meet Scooby Doo, Goober and the Ghostchasers (i.e Scooby Doo), etc. etc.)

The Nanny when Fran married Max, one of the running, plotlines was that Fran's love for Max and her constant frustration at never getting him. (and she was good for him too)Then they decided to have a friggin' baby, and the show really went downhill.
"Hmmm...It says here that if a person is not married by the time they are 35 they have a better chance of being robbed at gunpoint by a desperate and somewhat bloated Christian Slater." Harvey Birdman |

Rhoda marries Joe.
She was bred in old Kentucky, but she's just a crumb up here. |

The Simpsons, when the family started winning trips to foreign locales. In the first eight seasons or so, the writers at least put some effort into sending the Simpsons on zany adventures. Does Homer even go to work anymore? Do the kids have to attend school?.
When Peter had that second ten-minute fight with the giant chicken on Family Guy. At that point it became clear just how painfully self-conscious the show had become.
The first two seconds of American Dad.
On the continuing theme of poorly thought-out marriages on TV shows: Max and 99 getting married on Get Smart, and Lee Stetson and Amanda King getting married on Scarecrow and Mrs. King. |

Max and 99. Dang! Wish I'd thought of that one.
Wasn't there a Get Smart update where they gave Don Adams Edward Platt's old job and made Andy Dick the new Agent 86? Crikey. |

How about the new version of "The Night Stalker"? It was an absolutely terrible idea to remake the show as some ersatz "X-Files", and the thing disappeared practically overnight.
I subjected myself to a couple of episodes at the start and then the thing vanished like some money-saving invisible alien from the original show. Even its page listing times on ABC vanished only to be replaced by a page-not-found notice. |

Remember the surrealist episode, where the whole unit was overworked and they all had those hallucinations and nightmares? |

Really? This is when I started to love this show! I thought the whole fight squence (and later rematch in another episode) was freakin hilarious. I hate American Dad though.
I also have to point out that the Simpsons and Family Guy are the only shows mentioned in this thread that I have actually watched (Well, also the A-Team, but I was like 5). |
