Haven't posted in a while, in fact I haven't even done much lurking. I just wanted to let everybody know that I've become involved in the making of a feature-length film. It's called Sir Real. The director describes it as "Lord of the Rings meets Monty Python and the Holy Grail". I think it's more like "The Princess Bride meets Night of the Living Dead".
I'm going to be doing some technical things such as editing, and I'll also have a small but important part in front of the camera.
We haven't started principal photography yet, but we do hope to finish the film in time to submit it to Sundance this year. So the schedule is going to be pretty tight. I really hope that Sir Real will become a cult classic, but it could just as easily become fodder for one of Ken's reviews. Time will tell.
Wish us luck. We're going to need all we can get.

Princess Bride meets NOLD? This has potential.... If it works, Cult Classic. If it don't, Ken gets a freebie. I call it a win/win for Jabootu.

Now that I think about it, it's really more White Zombie than NotLD. The living dead in this film are more like the classic houngan-controlled zombies of legend than George Romero's ghouls. And they can talk, so expect something similar to the "vampires" in Last Man On Earth, only funnier.
And the plot bears no resemblance to Princess Bride, but the general flavor of humor in this film is more PB than Python.
Just wanted to clear that up. I fear if I say more I'll give too much away.

White Zombie's a heck of a beautiful film. There are scenes so well composed they make me think of Caligari and Nosferatu.
I''ve heard a rumor that one of the actors claimed Lugosi did a lot of the direction for the film. If that's true, then he was a brilliant director, even though I've never been much of a fan of his acting.

You're not kidding. Lugosi may well have missed his true calling.
There's a free download of it on the Internet Archive (www.archive.org) but the soundtrack for it it so noisy that it's almost unwatchable. Pity.

Wouldn't that be terrible? Really, I don't know which is sadder.
