I forget when, but Ken once made a post in his blog about how the then upcoming Jaws: Unleashed game interested him. Since I don't follow modern video games as much as I used to, I didn't pay attention to news about that game. However, today I saw a funny review about the game. The funny part being the object of the first stage.

If only that jerk Mayor Vaughn had built a fence!!!

... A SHARK ... has to find an ID CARD??!? How does it use it? Stick it between two of its teeth? Swallow it, then belly up to the card reader?

Plus the "eat something every two minutes or die" makes the shark sound like one of those annoying Tamagotchi games.

At least the graphics are a huge improvement over the first "Jaws" game, as seen in http://www.mobygames.com/game/jaws-the-computer-game/screenshots

Maybe he gets carded all the time... I don't know.

Well, it worked in MECC's "Odell" games (Odell Lake and Odell Down Under,) but that's because it was the whole point of the game.

A game at least as good as the movie.

Ugh. Ken would love this one, "Jaws - the Revenge" reenacted by a dozen pixels in a 15 Kb Famicon cart. And it doesn't even have Michael Caine nor Mario Van Peebles chewing scenario. On the other hand, the reviewer never says there's a roaring shark, so it *may* be better than the film.

I rented it when it first came out and got both frustrated and tired of it real quick. I found the free-roaming aspects far more entertaining than the story missions which were both dumb and needless complicated. The camera angles also didn't help matters. Some of the combos were damn near impossible. Just swimming around and chewing on some unlucky swimmers was novel for a short period of time, but the overall game is a quite mediocre. I'd give it a 4 out of 10.
