Wow, I didn't remember that they were actually married. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference I suppose, although it does possibly make Roman seem a bit more of a traditional stand-up guy prior to that, so his later actions seem even more out of place.

It's too easy to say the Jews control Hollywood (all Jews? Everywhere?) but I think there is very little Hollywood will not forgive but talking about Jews is forbidden.
Well Mel Brooks films and Woody Allen's early films were filled with non-stop attacks on Jews, although I suppose that one could make the case that they were considered 'allowed' to make these comments. Mel Brooks has recently remade his first movie featuring "Springtime for Hitler" - could you imagine it if the bad taste musical had been "Springtime for Osama"?

Well to be honest; how many people would really think; presented with the concept of a highly violent version of a biblical story filmed entirely in a dead language would be a commercial success. It's easy to be wise after the event. In the same way that Buba Ho-Tep was funded by its director because no-one thought that anyone would want to see a movie about an elderly Elvis and JFK fighting a mummy.

Rob Scheinder, meet your match: Patrick Swayze. It seems the man of Roadhouse, Ghost and Dirty Dancing is coming to Mel's defense.
From IMDB.com:
Swayze Defends Gibson
Hollywood star Patrick Swayze is the latest celebrity to defend Mel Gibson, following his controversial drink driving arrest last month. The Lethal Weapon star issued a apology last week after it was revealed he had made anti-Semitic comments in a drunken tirade on a Malibu, California highway. While some Hollywood producers and agents have stepped forward to condemn Gibson's drunken slurs, the actor's pals - producer Dean Devlin and actress Jodie Foster have offered their support to the troubled star. Swayze says, "Mel is a wonderful human being. He is not anti-Semetic. People say stupid things when they happen to have a few (drinks), and especially if you don't drink any more, or have limited your drinking for a long time and all of a sudden you decide to have one too many with the boys - you are stupid." The Dirty Dancing star is confident the incident will not affect Gibson's career, adding, "When you are a pit bull, and you love what you do and you are going to continue to grow, that talent will find its way out. Talent deserves to be honored. Hands deserve to be slapped if you do something stupid as well, but don't take it too far."

I hear Gibson is teaming up with Bruckheimer for the next great movie: PILATE OF THE CARRIBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CROSS.

I stopped watching Woody Allen years ago, because I was so fed up with his antiSemitism. |

Folks, COME ON. There's a world of difference between making fun of your own group and expressing genuine, malicious bigotry. Ever hear Chris Rock's bit about "Black people vs niggers?" Or Carlos Mencia go on about "beaners?"
Mel Gibson isn't the worst creature stalking the celebrity swamps, to be sure, but he stands revealed as a Jew-hater. Contrary to what some of you are claiming, alcohol is not a hallucinogen. It's more like a truth serum. It's a well-known adage that if you want to know what someone really thinks of you, get drunk together. Now we know what Mel really thinks about Jews. This doesn't mean he can't clean up his act; I hope this sorry mess serves as the kind of system-shock that often destroys bigotry.
But nobody should be carrying water for him. He said it, he owns it.

I believe that if a Black (or gay, or Jewish, or Chinese American or you name it) comedian is entertaining in a nightclub where 99% of the audience is Black(or gay or Jewish or Chinese American or you name it) he can tell as many jokes dealing with offensive stereotypes as he likes, but he shouldn't tell such jokes in front of any kind of mass media audience. The article I keep trying to find put how to post on this thread points out that, the same day that Mel Gibson got drunk and said some vicious stupid things about Jews, Naveed Alzad Haq, stone cold sober, shot six Jewish women, wounding five and killing one. |

Yes, it's a well-known adage. That doesn't mean it's true, any more than the Neiman Marcus cookie... or the oft-repeated charge that the Jews run everything. Facts aren't democratic.

| On a sidenote, I wonder whether the Rob Schneiders and Bernie Brillsteins in Hollywood are as upset at Gibson as they are at Gary Busey and Billy Zane for appearing in Valley of Wolves. |
