Cult German film director Uwe Boll has knocked out some of his harshest critics in the boxing ring, in revenge for their harsh reviews of his movies. The film-maker challenged journalists to a physical contest after they criticized his movie BloodRayne, which stars Sir Ben Kingsley and Kristanna Loken. Five people were selected to go fist-to-fist with Boll in a series of boxing matches, one of which took place in Malaga, Spain, while the others took place in Vancouver, Canada. And Boll proceeded to knock out every one of his opponents. Critic Richard Kyanka of website Something Awful says, "I feel great. I feel like a very angry German man punched me in the head repeatedly. He kept saying it was PR stunt and a joke, but then he comes on just 'murderizing' me. I want to have more kids someday, so I just said, 'I'm not going to stay in here and keep getting punched in the head.'" And Boll's youngest opponent, 17-year-old Chance Mointer says, "I wasn't a big fan of House Of The Dead or Alone In The Dark, but after what he's shown me of Seed, I think it's fantastic." A triumphant Boll says, "See what happens when they take a blow to the head? They like my movies."
Comments: 1) The IMDB should revise their editorial standards, as I don't think being hated and insulted worldwide makes someone a "cult director" and 2) Seems that at least the man is a good sport and hasn't mutilated or beaten beyond recognition any of the critics involved in the boxing stuff. |

1- There was an actual real critic who sparred with Uwe Boll a few nights ago, who was a real amateur boxer. Uwe refused to fight the guy in the ring; obviously he only wanted people with no boxing experience. Anyway, when Uwe was sparring with the dude, the critic / amateur had to quit sparring because Uwe "was taking it too seriously" and really trying to beat the crap out of the guy. So he just said f--- it and left.
2- Apparently when we were in another room, Uwe declared he was going to beat the crap out of all of us and try to "win by knockout." You know, like kinda the OPPOSITE of "this is all a PR stunt we will have fun my movies don't suck" that he was saying before.
3- Like I mentioned before, Uwe said we would get training, boxing equipment, and lessons beforehand. None of us received any of this, which didn't quite worry us at the time since he kept saying it was just a PR stunt and he wasn't really going to box for real for serious blah blah blah. NEVER trust a German. Three of the guys didn't even have cups to protect their balls; the only reason I had a cup was because my wife bought me one.
4- The dude after me [Sneider] was throwing up and had an EMT by his side for about an hour. He eventually had to have an oxygen mask on. The dude after him was all bloodied up and looked like crap. They too made the mistake of believing Uwe Boll when he said it was just a PR thing, since neither really trained.

| Amazing. I read the chronicle in CineCutre, whose webmaster was one of the first to take Uwe on the ring, and he maintains that the guy was very kind to him and his team, even playing along when he confronted several followers / haters during the previous days. |

I can't say, although some of the statements he makes in his site seem too fun to be real. So far the only combat I've only seen is the one between Uwe and Oso, the webmaster of CineCutre. It's available on YouTube:

If you watch the whole thing you'll see they fight under supervision and wear protection. And even if they weren't, you can clearly notice how little damage Oso receives, as he spends the whole fight running away. |

Hey, looks like TheFoywonder was right after all. Boll was nice enough to Oso, that Spanish webmaster I've been mentioning in these threads. However, those critics who faced Boll in Vancouver got a quite different deal.
Oso himself explains that Boll entered the ring meaning business and without protection, and was quite mean to some of the contenders, specially some Chris alexander and a mysterious 17-year old who fought after him.

I dunno. Maybe I'm just sympathy impaired, but getting into a boxing ring with a former amateur boxer you've insulted in print strikes me as one of those "I did not know that wild bears were dangerous" situations.

I'd like to know what the costume designer was smoking. Michael Paré's jacket looks like it could glow under an ultraviolet light.
