Previews for Santa Clause 3 showcase Martin Short as the new villain, Jack Frost. A question popped into my head, "Who is the most annoying ex-SNL member going?"

My pick: see paragraph above.

I'd have to go with Jimmy Fallon. Just an all around annoying and unfunny guy. He also wins the "Most Jarring Cameo Award" for his role in Band of Brothers.

Chris Rock is a close second.

Geeze, there are so many!! Of the ones that more or less have careers, I'd pick Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Al Franken, maybe Fallon... Short isn't even close. He can be annoying to a degree but he'll always get a pass for Three Amigos and SCTV.

Casting mine for Franken.

But was he ever funny to begin with? No other alumni of the show has, to my knowledge, produced anything as awful as "Stuart Saves His Family".

Yep, that's the one. Chris Kattan makes Rob Schneider look like Phil Hartman. The only thing I can think of in Kattan's favor is that he hasn't done a lot of movies. But the ones he has done can strip paint off walls.

I never understood why Chevy Chase was meant to be funny, but the fact that he delivered a bearable performance on Memoirs of an invisible man makes him a bit less annoying to my eyes. Then there's Rob Schneider, whose vehicles are the worst of the worst... but I laughed with his antics in Judge Dredd and Knock Off.

I'd say the most annoying are either Pauly Shore or Martin Short.

Was Pauly Shore ever a cast member? If he was I'd gladly give him my vote.

Otherwise I'd probably go with Dennis Miller. Kattan, Schneider, Sandler to an extent...they can all be annoying, I agree. But Miller's a one-trick pony, and that one trick is to be so smug and superior that it makes my teeth grind. I didn't mind him in small doses on Weekend Update, but watching one of his stand-up performances is an exercise in pain.

Don't forget It's Pat: The Movie. Or perhaps Coneheads.

This is just one of the "Most Annoying..." categories that Jeanine Garafolo falls into.

She was bred in old Kentucky, but she's just a crumb up here.

Perhaps it would narrow the field if we searched our minds for non-annoying ex-SNLers?

Ohhhhh, tough one. Thinking...I've got it! Wait, I was thinking of someone else.

Okay - Bill Murray. Seems like a guy you could go get a beer and watch a game with.

As someone mentioned Chris Kattan above for most annnoying, I'll cast my vote for Mike Myers. Since the 1st Austin Powers, his movies have gotten steadily crappier while his ego (from what I've read) has grown exponentially. In my book, when one of your best characters is a 700 pound Scot named Fat Bastard, you lose all right to go on an ego trip.

OK, you're right - Bill Murray is an actual actor, and can be both funny and affecting, often at the same time. His nomination for Lost in Translation was deserved.

However, I think Murray had to fight like heck to achieve his current standing. Perhaps we shouldn't be TOO hard on the current SNL alumni - maybe they do have talent, it's just hidden. On the other hand, I don't sense that such ... oh, can't use the word actors, perhaps entertainers would be better ... such entertainers as Rob Schneider aren't exactly fighting the good fight to show off their skills. Perhaps Sandler would be the closest. Ironically, though, every time he tries to show off acting skills in creating a real character, he feels compelled to follow it up with a "return to his roots", a role where he plays a reprehensible moron that for some reason is presumed to be subject to the audience's sympathies. How the heck can you turn Mr. Deeds into a jerk?

Speaking of Adam Sandler, I still haven't recovered from watching Punch drunk love. I'm still trying to figure out if Sandler has always been talented and only Paul Thomas Anderson could notice it or if he simply used Sandler's limited skills better than anybody else has ever done.
