Can I be the lady the detective or protagonist visits, the one who remembers the precise detail about the murderer that the detective or protagonist needs to know?

I'll be the stentorian narrator called in to give some semblance of logic to the plot in post-production.

There are logical, believable ways to slip in a narrator, Nate. I remember a PBS adaption of "The Scarlet Letter" which opened with the narrator, Nathaniel Hawthorne, finding Hester Prynne's "A" in an attic in the Salem custom house. Before TV sets became common, there was a RADIO adaption of "Hamlet" which starred John Guilgud and introduced Horatio as the narrator.

Here's job security: I'll be the woman who the hero has to rescue. Always one. Every movie.

That was actually part of the original novel, a prelude to the story called "The Customs House."

Wow, I've never heard of this.

I'm seeing Paul tonight, and see what he says.

PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court?
HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

That was the one with Meg Foster, right? I remember it was pretty good, overall, even if the special effects left something to be desired. Meg's eyes looked really weird (and they still do), but she was a much better Hester than Demi, yeah?

Hey, what was the topic of this board, again? *g*

I know there ARE narrators whose presence is good and reasonable. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be one of those; I'd be the "fix-it-in-post" narrator.

And remember to explain stuff that we just saw happened. Like "They got into a car and drove off," on a scene where we see people get into a car and drive off.

I've been practicing my random exclamations:

"Progress."

"Pull the strings! Pull the strings!"

"Hey, I told you, real mayo, none of this Miracle Whip smeg! Don't you know who I am? No, I don't CARE if the mic's still live, I--"

I want to provide the useless commentary for the DVD where the director describes the action onscreen and says he likes it.

"So here, Nathan and Ken are driving down the street, discussing what to do next. I like this scene." [Two minutes of silence]
