Since August 16 is the anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, which movie of his (and we know most of them are Jabootu fodder) stands out as particularly horrible? The well is deep, but I will have to say "Kissin' Cousins" simply because the King plays a dual role in the best Patty Duke tradition. It's almost so embarassing for the Big E that I have to turn away at his complete humiliation.

She was bred in old Kentucky, but she's just a crumb up here.

I've not seen most Elvis movie in soooo long, I find it hard to remember details -- the only two I've seen recently are VIVA LAS VEGAS and A CHANGE OF HABIT. VIVA seemed just fine to me, and I'd guess most Elvis flicks can be silly fun, but shouldn't CHANGE OF HABIT get some kind of extra Jabootu points for trying to be socially relevant?

Our Supreme Commander, Ken, foresaw the social significance of Change of Habit years ago. Read his review. It's a scream.

Viva Las Vegas is actually a good movie with many nice songs and Ann Margaret ain't bad either. Jail House Rock is also good. I also like the movie with Wooden Heart in it but can't remember the title.

The best of Elvis' nonfiction movies is Elvis: The Way It Is and it features Elvis rehearsing and performing in Las Vegas. He is totally professional and a really great entertainer. This is terrific movie.

For the worst, well thats a hard choice as they are pretty much the same movie over and over. SpinOut and It Happened At the World's Fair stand out in my memory. Change of Habit with Elvis as a singing doctor with Mary Tyler Moore as a nun may be even worse.

I looked it up the movie with Wooden Heart is GI Blues from 1960. Blue hawaii is entertaining as well.

On the horrible side there are also Clambake and Roustabout and Spinout which are on a par with change of Habit.

The Way It Is and Elvis On Tour are both excellent documentaries of the King in his prime. No one could touch him performance-wise.

Speaking as a red-blooded American female, he was also gorgeous during that time. One of the handsomest men on the planet.

Jailhouse Rock was good too, in that it was different from all the other race car drivers/circus roustabouts/singing cowboys he played. In JR, he was actually a real jerk throughout the film, only to be saved at the end by the love of a good, feist woman.
