I didn't know much about this except that the previews looked like one of those "could go either way" kind of deals, but alas:

One thing that's weird is that this was actually done before, (and much better) as an old episode of the mid 80's Twilight Zone. Matheson's short story is gripping simply because it does focus on the struggle over pushing the button or not. (The end is killer too; creepy, but not expressly stated.) It's not the type of thing that can be stretched out to nearly two hours and not turn from mindscrew to mind numbing.
