[font=Arial Black]The MST thread got me to thinking. I've done, for my own amusement, what i call "Roll yer own" MSTs. A karaoke machine, a dvd, and casset tape are involved. That, and a snarkey sence of humor. I've done 25 flicks so far, and while its hard, it a great challange to your riffing muscles. Soooooo... My question : What movies would you love to have seen the Best Brains get to? Conciter it, the sadness of the unfullfilled riffer. I'll start with some ofthe films i've done so far, that i recomend if Rhino ever get the rights to these cheese logs, and pays the gang to do New MST3K...hey, i can dream, can't i?
REPTILICUS. THE SNOW CREATURE. PHANTOM FROM 10.000 LEAGUES. THE APE MAN. WILD, WILD PLANET. WAR OF THE PLANETS. THE GREEN SLIME. THE GIANT CLAW. NIGHT FRIGHT. VOYAGE TO A PREHISTORIC PLANET. TERROR IN THE MIDIGHT SUN. CREATURE FROM THE HAUNTED SEA. Well, these are just the ones i remember off hand, but i'd bet you have similar picks. Realy...if Rhino could sneak some fliks into its owner ship deal, they could release specials. MST3K : THE LOST EPHISODES...what do ya think? [font/Arial black]

The Hubbardites would probably fight tooth and nail but they would just have to take on "Battlefield Earth".

I am really partial to the ones where Mike/Joel and the 'Bots went off on the popular culture of the 70's and 80's, e.g. Riding With Death, Hobgoblins, etc. Therefore, I would love to see them make mincemeat of a good ol' boy Burt Reynolds monstrosity of the late 70's, preferably the wonderfully abysmal Stroker Ace.
She was bred in old Kentucky, but she's just a crumb up here. |

I pray to the god of Jabootu to have Mike and the bots shred any movie with Tara Ried in it! I am sure you would call it "poetic justice!"

I'll throw out some more recent films that, IMHO, stunk.
The Day After Tomorrow Starsky & Hutch Fantastic Four Deuce Bigalow
And I'd love to hear the riffs that M&TB's would come up with for a movie like "Lost Highway" (which I like).

I thought I heard that they did an MST3K special in which they applied their usual thing to trailers for a bunch of recent blockbusters, one of which was Batman & Robin. I'd like to see that.

I'd love to see them rip some of the classics myself. Citizen Kane Casablanca Gone With the Wind The Wizard of Oz Lawrence of Arabia It's a Wonderful Life Cleopatra High Noon The Magnificent Seven
In keeping with the thread of nominating movies one likes, I'd also add Excalibur Tombstone Star Trek II Eddie and the Cruisers
Before people get upset about the suggestions I've made, remember that I am talking about giving these pictures a good-natured, fun ribbing, not a bitter diatribe about how horrible they are. I find it quite amusing to see fun being poked at movies that are not horrendous for while, partly to puncture the wall of pomposity that's formed around the classics, and partly to have fun with movies I have enjoyed. I realize a number of my suggestions would be two-parters, but that just means we get a few more episodes to enjoy than otherwise.
You know Grand Funk, don't you? The wild, shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The ... adequate drumwork of Don Brewer? |

Prankster : I think that was the Oscar contender awards show, where they riffed on what was up for the lil gold naked bald guy statue. And due to the riff on "TITANIC", the scene with Leo standing Waaay too close behind his friend, on the bow of the ship,i will laugh my ass off any time its played! "Hey, stop that...Ow, hey cut it out..i don't go that way! Leo, knock it off. Ow..stop it!..."
There is indeed, a differance between films that can be riffed, and those that cry out for it. You CAN riff "Star Wars. A new hope.", but you NEED to riff "Monster a Go-Go." I'm kinda with Leonard Maltin on this. He actualy likes Gorgo, but as he told the guys, "It put two of my research assistants into intensive care, so who knows." And do i need to define how badly MANOS needs riffed till its eyes bleed? Diden't THINK so.

My choices: KING KONG (D'Larentis version. In the AirForce, we "MiSTed" it durring it's first run!) CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (It's a dumb movie when you THINK about it) ONCE BEFORE I DIE (A really crappy anti-war movie from around 1969) |
